Girls Are Like Apples

I found this quote via Stumbleupon.

"Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree."

Needless to say, I "disliked" it.

  1. Olive,

I too have seen this quote. What's wrong with it, if I may ask? I always thought it was cool!

  2. ST,
It seems like one giant shit test, no? "Here I am, sitting at the top, and I'm really hard to catch. A really brave boy is going to have to come along to pick me."

It also smacks of intrasexual competition: "Look at all those 'easy' apples on the ground. I'm better than that, if only the boys would notice ME/grow some balls."

  3. As a boy I can tell you that the apples on the floor may be disguting but those in the middle branches are good enough. It is debatable whether the ones at the top are better, though they certainly think they are, but it is a long fall from the top. They are probably not worth it. There are boys daring enough to climb all the way to the top, to show they can, but they will probably collect as many apples as they can carry, bruise them on the way down and, when they notice the apples are damaged, will discard them, confident of their ability to get back to the top.

  4. Ah,

I see what you mean. I always thought it was more about self-respect.
But now I see it may also have other connotations...

  5. Really, any nice, firm ass will do.

    Apple. I mean apple.

PS: Just found this. I'm blaming you for not telling me about it sooner, so I'll have to make it up with some harassment ;)

Like that you should allow Name/URL as a comment ID type instead of this silly wordpress.
